Disciples of Jesus have the promise and power to be victorious over sin.
Romans 6:14 For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.
1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
We are human, and therefore sinners. However, we are redeemed sinners. Since our redemption, we are no longer enslaved by the power of sin. The gift of salvation included the release from the bondage of sin and the power by the Holy Spirit to live above and be victorious over sin. This does not mean we are not tempted to sin. It does mean we have been given the means to turn our backs to sin and live in victory. Thank you, God, for the deliverance from the power of sin today.
